JOB VACANCY-Medical Officer
The Nyanza Reproductive Health Society (NRHS) is a non-profit organization with its headquarters in Kisumu dedicated to improving reproductive health of men and women. NRHS has several research projects as well as programmes related to reproductive health. As part of its work, NRHS is undertaking a research study to evaluate efficacy and safety of a once-monthly oral HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis pill. This research activity will happen in Kisumu and NRHS is seeking:
JOB TITLE: Medical Officer
LOCATION: Kisumu
REPORTING TO: Clinical Research Coordinator
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provide and lead study clinical procedures
• Provide quality clinical care to participants, including collection of medical history, physical
examination, diagnosis and treatment of common ailments.
• Conduct participant assessments, diagnose medical conditions, and develop treatment plans
• Support implementation and monitoring of clinical procedures related to the study protocol
• Educate participants on HIV prevention, PrEP adherence, and sexual health.
• Collaborate with research team to collect, document and report clinical data accurately
• Ensure compliance with ethical, regulatory and clinical guidelines in research activities
• Safety assessment and reporting of all SAEs and ADRs to the PI, Sponsor, and EC
• Develop and review study-related SOPs
• Participate in training and capacity building activities for clinical staff and community partners
Qualifications and competencies
• Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution (MBChB)
• Registered by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board and licensed to practice
• 2 years’ experience working in a busy research setup
• Prior GCP and Human subjects training is desirable
• Knowledge, PrEP guidelines and HIV prevention interventions is preferred
