JOB VACANCY: IT OFFICER

The Nyanza Reproductive Health Society (NRHS) is a non-profit organization with its headquarters in Kisumu dedicated to improving reproductive health of men and women. NRHS has several research projects related to HIV prevention and treatment as well as reproductive health. NRHS seeks highly qualified candidates for the following position:

LOCATION: Kisumu

REPORTING TO: Senior IT Consultant

JOB PROFILE:

The IT officer provides first-line technical support, maintaining and troubleshooting computer systems, networks, and software to ensure smooth organizational operations.

 Duties & Responsibilities.

· Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Respond to user requests, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network problems. 

· System Maintenance:  Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and network systems. 

· User Support: Provide technical assistance to employees, create new user accounts, and train them on IT systems. 

· Security: Implement security measures to protect company data and systems and monitor for potential threats. 

· Asset Management: Maintain accurate records of IT hardware and software assets and manage their lifecycle. 

· Documentation: Create and update documentation for IT systems, configurations, and procedures. 

· Project Support: Assist with IT projects, such as system upgrades and migrations. 

· Vendor Liaison: Communicate with IT contractors and vendors for equipment and services in consultation with procurement. 

Qualifications and competencies

· Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

· Professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA, CCNA, CISSP) are an added advantage.

· Proficient with common operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and network protocols. 

· Experience in MS 365 and SharePoint services.

· Strong ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues. 

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively support users and collaborate with colleagues. 

· Accuracy in documentation, configuration, and troubleshooting. 

· Proven experience in IT support or administration. 

· Knowledge of web design and website maintenance is an added advantage.

· Proactive, self-driven, and research-oriented mindset.

· Keen interest in emerging trends and technologies in IT, including ERP and security systems.
