Executive Director

Dr. Fredrick Otieno

"At NRHS Kenya, we are dedicated to improving public health through cutting-edge research, community engagement, and transformative health services.

As the Executive Director, I am committed to ensuring that our work continues to impact lives positively and to advancing our vision of healthier futures for all. Together, we work to create lasting change and build resilient communities."

Dr Fredrick Otieno is a seasoned epidemiologist with over 20 years of clinical, administrative, implementation, and research experience in Kenya. Doc is published in peer reviewed journals, has presented in local and international conferences and worked in technical working groups and round tables to formulate, design and disseminate policies and best practices. Among other things he also has a passion for emergency medicine and is a certified Advanced Trauma Life Support trainer by the American College of Surgeons . He is a member of the Kenya National Academy of Sciences,member of the African Academy of Sciences, the current chair of the MSM Health Research Consortium and sits on the editorial board of several peer review journals.

A dedicated and skilled Project Coordinator currently leading the POWWeR Health study. She holds an Masters in Public Health, a BSc. in Community Health and a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from MTC. She is also an active reviewer for multiple Academic Journals and a published researcher.

A highly experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist with over 34 years of expertise to contributing to groundbreaking studies on HIV, STIs, and microbiome research.

A seasoned public accountant and finance professional with over 10 years of experience managing the financial and administrative aspects of complex donor funded programming in Kenya, including for PEPFAR, EC, CDC, USAID, JHPIEGO, GLOBAL FUND, UKAID, KFW and Bills & Melinda Gates programming.

Our Program Manager has over 18 years’ experience in management, operations, and research in Kenya. He is fascinated about project development, management, and research with specific interest in HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, infectious diseases, and LGBTI welfare.

Ms. Oketch has over 15 years’ experience in outpatient and inpatient nursing as well as research nursing. She holds a Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing as well as a Diploma in project management. Her research interests are in HIV/AIDS and its comorbidities and STIs with a focus on Key population and women’s health.

A medical sociologist, his areas of specialization include: Bio-ethics, Social Networks, Family Planning-Contraceptive methods for both men and women, Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC), HIV/AIDS prevention and management, SGBV and IPV.

The leadership of Nyanza Reproductive Health Society (NRHS) provides strategic direction and oversight to advance the organization's mission of improving reproductive health and HIV prevention. We also ensure the implementation of high-quality research, healthcare programs, and community-based initiatives while fostering partnerships with local and international stakeholders. Through strong governance and expertise, NRHS leadership works to enhance healthcare access, research excellence, and community empowerment.

Dedicated to advancing sexual and reproductive health in Kenya. We focuses on research, advocacy, and service delivery to improve healthcare access and outcomes for diverse communities across Kenya.

Through Evidence-based interventions we drive efforts to promote well-being and equitable healthcare for all.
